Set on a hill, we designed this house to take advantage of the spectacular views. Through a combination of thoughtful design, energy efficient materials, and locally sourced stone, this Texas Regional Contemporary is the ideal family home for our clients.
Steadfast in their commitment to energy consciousness, our clients chose a closed attic system. Completely air sealed and insulated with polyurethane foam between the roof rafters and floor joists, the attic eliminates air infiltration and creates a buffer zone between the inside conditioned air and the outside air temperature.
The original bird’s-eye view sketch of the house design is a study tool which enabled us to see the proportions of the house as 3D sculptural forms.
Pella windows and doors were chosen for the energy-saving technology that makes a significant difference in both the home’s comfort and energy use. The extended eaves mounted on struts limit direct sunlight on the windows for most of the day.
The kitchen and TV room open out onto a covered patio with views of the pool beyond. Bringing the stone work inside blurs the interior and exterior while the sliding doors emphasize the openness of the living spaces.
The contemporary furnishings and appliances balance against the hand honed plank flooring which is used throughout the first floor.
The upstairs media room allows for multiple seating options and our custom built cabinetry serves as storage as well as a buffet. Custom black out drapes add to the ambience of the room.
