It is hard to believe, but Dallas National Golf Clubhouse will turn ten this year!
When conceived, developer John MacDonald envisioned a world class golf club. Located on 388 acres more reminiscent of Austin than our traditionally-flat topography, Dallas National features a rugged Tom Fazio designed course with a reputation as one of the most challenging in the country and is named one of America’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses by Golf Digest. Whereas the course is challenging and the landscape dramatic, our clubhouse has received similar accolades in its perfect fit to the site and its response to Texas Regional Architecture.
The developers wanted a clubhouse with a comfortable, uniquely Texas feel while maintaining the high level of finish and detail the exclusive clientele was accustomed to enjoying. The rough stone exterior, standing seam metal roof, and hewn beams reflect the rugged terrain of the course while creating the undeniably Texas feel the developers desired.
“Dallas National is all golf and its clubhouse is all Texas…The stone fireplace is the focal point of the interior. It is the expansive porch, however, that is the architectural tour de force for the building. The clubhouse design and placement takes advantage of the panoramic views of the pristine zoysia fairways that roll over the plateaus and canyons.
The locally sourced Leuders Limestone fireplace is the focal point of the grand room. Knotty Alder is used throughout in the millwork and stays true to the rustic charm.
Even the locker rooms reflect the owners’ insistence on attention to detail and faithfulness to the design concept.
