French Country Style
In recent years, there has been much comparison made between the landscape of the Hill Country and that of Provence. The Garrigue scrubland of the Provençal countryside with its calcareous plateaus of limestone rich soils composed of grasses, junipers and oaks is strikingly similar to that of the terrain and vegetation of Texas’ own Juniper scrubland.

When requested by a client to design a Country French house fitting for Austin, we took cues from the landscape and followed the traditions of Provençal life. The indigenous stone grounds the home to the site, seating is centered around gracious fireplaces, natural stone floors throughout remain cool in summer and retain heat in winter, and classic French Doors lead out to a walled courtyard. La joie de vivre is very apparent within the interiors of this French Country house.
